The Decree mandates efficient use of energy and provides measures and policies for the implementation of this mandate. Among its salient portions are policies and measures to promote economical and efficient use of energy; and the rights, obligations and responsibilities of organizations, households and individuals in economical and efficient use of energy.

The Act provides for the establishment of a National Green Tribunal. The Tribunal shall have jurisdiction over all civil cases where a substantial question relating to the environment is involved and such question arises out of the implementation of the environmental enactment specified in the schedule.

The Act provides for the development of policies and plans and the implementation of actions and measures pertaining to all aspects of disaster risk reduction and management, including good governance, risk assessment and early warning, knowledge building and awareness raising, reducing underlying risk factors, and preparedness for effective response and early recovery. It reorganizes and names the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Counsel which shall, among others, develop a framework providing for a comprehensive, all-hazards, multi-sectoral, inter-agency and community-based approach to disaster risk reduction and management, as well as manage and mobilize resources for disaster risk reduction and management.

The Act provides the regulatory framework for the development of policies and plans for disaster risk reduction and management.

The Alternative Energy Development Board Act establishes the Energy Development Board for carrying out the purposes of the Act. The functions of the board shall include development of national strategy, policies and plan on use of alternative renewable energy resources, acting as one window facility for establishing, promoting and facilitating alternative or renewable energy projects.

The appellant challenged the constitutionality of the provision of the Misuse of Drugs Act under which the Mandatory Death Penalty is imposed on him, for violating his right not to be deprived of life except in accordance with law. He argued that "law" includes customary international law which prohibits cruel and inhumane punishment. The court ruled that although domestic law should be interpreted in a manner consistent with customary international law, this is not possible where the expressed wording of the Singapore Constitution is not amenable to the incorporation of the international norms in question.

The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation Convention on Cooperation on Environment intends to promote closer cooperation among the Parties for the protection and preservation, management, and enhancement of the environment. Its objective is to promote cooperation among the parties in the fields of environment and sustainable development, on the basis of equity, reciprocity and mutual benefit.

The Executive Order authorizes the Climate Change Commission to include the programs and action plans relating to REDD-plus in the scope of its coordination. It also mandates that the management and utilization of support from international organizations, if utilized by other agencies pursuant to their organic mandate, shall be coordinated with the Climate Change Commission.

Its objectives include protecting the environment, reducing vulnerability to natural disasters, human settlement development, infrastructure facilities development, water development, and economic development.
