The National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan 2016-2025 seeks to ensure that threats to biodiversity are addressed, biodiversity is conserved, sustainably used and benefits arising from them are shared equitably.
The NBSAP is composed of three (3) guiding principles namely: (i) the people of this generation and the generations to come reserves the right to access and share benefits of rich biodiversity and ecosystem services; (ii) responsibility of conserving and sustainability using biodiversity lies on everyone's shoulders and shall be taken as a shared responsibility; (iii) biodiversity shall be mainstreamed into all sectors and in a manner whereby monitoring progress and accountability is ensured.

The Constitution of Tonga

Environment Act 1999 (Kiribati)
The Act gives the Minister the function, among others, to protect, restore and enhance the quality of the environment of Kiribati, balanced against the need to promote sustainable development. Public Water Supply Regulations, 1994 (Marshall Islands)
The Public Water Supply Regulations were promulgated for the purpose of establishing minimum standards and requirements as determined by the Republic of the Marshall Islands' Environmental Protection Authority to be necessary for public health and safety, as well as to ensure that public water supply systems and water supply sources are protected against contamination and pollution. The Regulations also require a valid permit from the authority to build, operate or modify a public water system, which shall be valid for a period of three (3) years. The Regulations further impose requirements to be met in the operation and maintenance of water supply facilities and for self-monitoring by a supplier of water.

National Policy on Climate Change and Disaster-Induced Displacement, 2018 (Vanuatu)
The National Policy on Climate Change and Disaster-Inducted Displacement seeks to guide emergency and development planners in cooperation with the Government of Vanuatu to respond to the needs of all displaced communities, people at-risk of displacement, displaced people, internal migrants, people living in informal settlements and host communities. Recognizing that planned relocation should be an option of last resort, the goal of the Policy is to strengthen existing planning initiatives, multi-hazards mapping, disaster-risk reduction, and climate change adaptation efforts, to reduce displacement triggers to the extent possible.
