Second Joint National Action Plan for Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management 2016–2020, 2016 (Cook Islands)

The Second Joint National Action Plan for Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management (JNAP II) of the Cook Islands envisions a safe, resilient and sustainable Cook Islands. Its goal is to strengthen climate and disaster resilience to protect lives, livelihoods, economic, infrastructural, cultural and environmental assets in the Cook Islands in a collaborative sectoral approach. The JNAP II utilizes a sectoral approach in its response to climate change and disaster reduction and management due to the cross-cutting nature of these two areas. It presents a a strategic matrix containing nine strategies with specific outcomes. It also identifies the lead and support agencies responsible for the actions, sub-actions and resulting outputs. The matrix likewise identifies potential development partners and regional agencies which may provide technical assistance.
