The Biofuel Development Scheme aims to develop biofuels for use as an alternative and renewable energy source to partially replace conventional fossil fuels, thereby contributing to energy security and environmental protection. The document also identifies specific objectives for biofuel development to be implemented within 10-year periods, culminating in a vision to 2025.

The ASEAN Declaration on Environmental Sustainability was borne out of the ASEAN's determination to complement and support the efforts of global and regional organizations to tackle environmental issues.

The issuance approves the National Strategy for natural disaster prevention, response and mitigation to 2020. Its general goal is to mobilize all resources to effectively implement disaster prevention, response and mitigation from now up to 2020 in order to minimize the losses of human life and properties, the damage of natural resources and cultural heritages, and the degradation of environment, contributing significantly to ensure the country's sustainable development, national defense and security.

The 2007 Malé Declaration of the Human Dimension of Global Climate Change is the culmination of the Small Island States Conference, convened in Maldives. The Declaration requested the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to seek the cooperation of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the United Nations Human Rights Council in assessing the human right implications of climate change.

The objective in formulating the National Action Plan to address climate change is to provide guidance to various institutions in carrying out a coordinated and integrated effort to tackle climate change. The long term objective of the climate change adaptation agenda is the integration of climate change adaptation into national development plans. The National Action Plan is focusing on mitigation and adaptation as interrelated efforts, since mitigation and adaptation could not be treated as two separate independent branches.

The Law is enacted in order to promote energy conservation by all sectors of the society, increase energy efficiency, protect and improve the environment, and promote comprehensive balanced and sustainable economic and social development. The Law contains provisions on administration of energy conservation, rational and economic use of energy (including energy conservation in industrial production, construction, transportation, public institutions and key energy-using units), technological advances in energy conservation, incentive measures, legal liabilities and some supplementary provisions.

The Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority Act established the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (Authority). The objectives of the Authority include the identification and development of renewable energy resources, energy efficiency and energy conservation programmes, and to promote secure, reliable and cost effective energy delivery. The Act also provides for the declaration of renewable energy development areas, and on-grid and off-grid renewable projects.

The Act established and defined the functions of the Office of the Anti-Corruption Commissioner in the Kingdom of Tonga.

The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) is a framework agreement embodying the minimum standards for the survival, dignity and well-being of indigenous people. Considering that indigenous people are more vulnerable to climate change impacts due to their relationship with their lands, environment, territories and resources, the UNDRIP aims to mitigate vulnerability, and strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity.

The Order laid down the guidelines for the processing and issuance of special use agreements of protected areas, as defined under the National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 1992.
