The Act lays down the legal framework for the proper classification, management, utilization, protection, rehabilitation and development of forest lands.

The 1972 Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping Wastes and Other Matter regulates pollution caused by ocean dumping, to protect the marine environment. The Contracting Parties agreed to individually and collectively promote the effective control of all sources of pollution of the marine environment and to take all practicable steps to prevent the pollution of the sea by dumping.

The constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh defines the state as a unitary, independent and sovereign republic. It declares the fundamental principles of state policy including socialism, secularism and the fundamental rights of its citizens.

Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. Through this Convention, the State Parties recognized that the duty of ensuring the identification, protection, conservation, presentation, and transmission to future generations of the cultural and natural heritage situated in its national territory belongs primarily to the state. The Convention also created the World Heritage Committee within UNESCO, which shall establish (based on submissions of the States) and maintain the World Heritage List, a list of properties forming part of the cultural and natural heritage.
