This petition is by way of public interest litigation for preventing the pollution of the Bokaro river water from the sludge/slurry discharged from the coal washeries of a company engaged in mining. The Supreme Court of India acknowledged that the constitutional right to life included a right to pollution-free water and air, which was necessary for the full enjoyment of life. However, it dismissed the petition for not being filed in public interest but the petitioner's own interest.

Electricity Supply Act, 1990 (Malaysia)

The Electricity Supply Act of Malaysia provides for the regulation of the electricity supply industry, the supply of electricity at reasonable prices, the licensing of electrical installation, control of electrical installation, plant and equipment regarding safety to persons, and the efficient use of electricity. The Act also provides for the powers of enforcement, investigation and certain offenses. It likewise provides for the fixing and approval of tariffs which may be imposed by a licensee, among others.
