The Republic of of Indonesia, through the named Petitioners, entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with Respondent James Vinzon, sole proprietor of Vinzon Trade and Services for the maintenance of equipment at the Embassy of Indonesia in the Philippines and the official residence of the Indonesian Ambassador. The Memorandum of Agreement was thereafter terminated by the subsequent Chief of Administration allegedly due to the unsatisfactory work of Respondent. Respondent filed a complaint against Petitioners.

The Electricity Act of 2003 consolidates the laws relating to generation, transmission, distribution, trading and use of electricity. It also provides for assessment and investigation of unauthorized use of electricity and violation of licenses, as well as offenses (theft of electricity, electric lines and materials) and penalties therefore.

Sanjeewa, Attorney-at-Law (on behalf of Gerald Mervin Perera) vs. Suraweera, Officer-in-Charge, Police Station and Others, SC No. 328 of 2002 (FR), Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, 27 February 2003
Gerald Perera was arrested by the police, subjected to torture, suffered acute renal failure and other serious injuries and subsequently hospitalized. Respondents argued, among others, that Perera's claim for reimbursement of hospital expenses was exorbitant and he should have just sought treatment from a government hospital. The court recognized the right of everyone “to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health.”
