ADB Trains 233 Filipino Finance Professionals in International Auditing, Accounting, and Banking Standards for Islamic Finance
ADB, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), and the Islamic Finance Advisory & Assurance Services (IFAAS) conducted a series of advanced courses on Islamic banking and finance at ADB Headquarters in Mandaluyong City, Philippines, from October to December 2024. Uzbekistan's Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship partnered, with ADB's support, hosted a two-day training program on alternative dispute resolution (ADR) for commercial disputes. The seminar equipped participants with practical tools for efficient and effective dispute resolution, focusing on arbitration, mediation, and online dispute resolution. By promoting ADR, the program aims to foster a conducive business environment and attract foreign direct investment to Uzbekistan.
ADB and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Showcase Opportunities in the Philippines for Foreign Islamic Banking and Financial Institutions
In September 2024, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) published a comprehensive report exploring the potential and demand for Islamic banking and finance services in the Philippines. Titled Unlocking the Potential of Islamic Finance in the Philippines: A Market Analysis and Landscape Report, the study found that many Muslim Filipinos—many of whom own and operate micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs)—prefer Islamic financial services but have limited access to them.

ADB Delivers Case-Based Training on Arbitration for Armenian Judges
On 4-5 May 2024, the ADB Office of the General Counsel's Law and Policy Reform Program held the Armenia Arbitration Judicial Colloquium in Tsaghkadzor, Armenia. The colloquium helped build participants' capacity to apply international and Armenian legal approaches to arbitration, using a practical approach in which participants grappled with scenarios based on actual cases.
ADB Develops New E-Learning Platform for ASEAN Judges to Enhance Judicial Education
In partnership with the Council of ASEAN Chief Justices (CACJ), ADB’s Law and Policy Reform Program launches the first-of-its-kind e-learning platform and e-learning module on international commercial arbitration. Over 100 judges from ASEAN member states attended the event and discussed the evolution of judicial education, particularly in the era of technological advancements.
