ADB Training Boosts Cross-Border Mediation Capacity in Armenia On 27–28 June 2026 in Yerevan, ADB's Law and Policy Reform Program and Armenia Resident Mission, in partnership with Armenia’s Ministry of Justice, delivered a two-day mediation training to strengthen alternative dispute resolution as part of ongoing justice sector reforms to reduce court backlogs, preserve business relationships and boost international investor confidence.

SIMC and ADB Mediation Skills training facilitators

Led by the Chairman and CEO of the Singapore International Mediation Centre, the program featured hands-on sessions on mediation fundamentals, communication techniques and role-play exercises, building participants’ practical skills in cross-border commercial dispute resolution. Mediation offers faster, more cost-effective outcomes while preserving commercial relationships and enabling tailored solutions. Its importance continues to grow with the Singapore Convention on Mediation, which facilitates cross-border enforcement of mediated settlement agreements. Armenia is a signatory to the Singapore Convention, with ratification pending. A second phase of the program is planned in 2026 to support participants in becoming the first cohort of SIMC-accredited mediators in Armenia.
