Soil Conservation Act (1996)

Section 1 of the Soil Conservation Act is amended by inserting new Sections 1A, 1B, 1C and 1D regarding respectively the establishment, appointment of Secretary and functions of the Soil Conservation Board and the establishment of the Soil Conservation Fund.Functions of the Board shall be: (a) to propose measures and coordinate activities, research and programmes relating to the enhancement of the productive capacity of the soil; (b) to prevent soil erosion resulting from non-agricultural activities; (c) to administer and manage the Soil Conservation Fund; (d) to advise the Minister on the implementation of the provisions of this Act.

Animals Act (2009)

This Act amends the Animals Act 1958 by inserting a new section 3AA and a new section 3D on the care of animals against whom offences are committed and for penalties for the offences committed under Part II.

National Environmental Act (Act 47/1980)

These Regulations provide for procedures to appeal against the refusal to grant or renew, suspend or cancel environmental protection licences by the authority or any government department.

Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act (2006)

This Act amends the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act. Sections 39, 40, 41, 42 and 43 have been replaced with new sections dealing with: licensing of aquaculture operations; appointment of licensing officers; licence application procedures; and duration and renewal of licences. New sections shall be inserted after section 43 dealing with the suspension or cancellation of licences, and with appeals and complaints against Licensing Officers.

Environment Conservation Levy Act (2008)

The purpose of this Act is to ensure environment conservation by imposing a levy on specified items, owned by individuals or businesses, which are considered harmful to the environment.The Act empowers the Central Environmental Authority to enable the process of recovering this levy.

Disaster Management Act (2005)

The purpose of this Act is to protect human life and the environment of Sri Lanka from the consequences of natural disasters by preparing national policies and plans and by appointing centrally coordinated committees and institutions to give effect to such policies and plans. The Act provides for the establishment of a National Council for Disaster Management and defines its internal composition. Functions of the Council include: formulate a national policy and program on the management of disasters; prepare and formulate a National Disaster Management Plan and a National Emergency Operation Plan; facilitate emergency response, recovery, relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction; and direct, coordinate and monitor the activities of the Disaster Management Centre established under this Act.

Hazardous Waste Act

An Act to provide for the regulation of the export, import and transit of hazardous and other wastes, and for related purposes.

Prevention of Pollution of the Sea Act

An Act to give effect to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships 1973 as modified and added to by the Protocol of 1978, and to other international agreements relating to the prevention, reduction and control of pollution of the sea and pollution from ships; to make provisions generally for the protection of the marine environment and for the prevention, reduction and control of pollution of the sea and pollution from ships, and for matters related thereto.

Fisheries Act

An Act for the protection and conservation of fisheries, and to make provision for the control of fishing, the control of the marketing and distribution of fish and the use and control of fishing ports and harbours, for measures pertaining to the general welfare and improvement of the fishing industry in Singapore and for purposes incidental thereto.

Parks and Trees Act

An Act to provide for the planting, maintenance and conservation of trees and plants within national parks, nature reserves, tree conservation areas, heritage road green buffers and other specified areas, and for matters connected therewith.
