Tariff Policy Amendment, 2006 (India)

The Tariff Policy amendment was issued to clarify the provision of the 2006 Tariff Policy requiring competitive procurement by distribution licensees for their future requirements of power. The amendment clarifies that the following are exempt from the requirement: 

• Procurements where power purchase agreement has been approved by the appropriate commission prior to the date the Tariff Policy was notified (1 June 2006)
• Where relevant financial institution has started the appraisal of the power project, for purposes of lending to the project, prior to 1 June 2006
• Where the detailed project report has been submitted to the commission for concurrence prior to 1 June 2016.
