Sustainable Energy Development Authority Act, 2011 (Malaysia)

The Act establishes the Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia. The members of the Authority shall include a Chairman, representatives of the Federal Government, other members and a Chief Executive Officer. 

The functions of the Authority shall include:

  • Advising the Minister and relevant government entities on all matters relating to sustainable energy.
  • Promoting and implementing the national policy objectives for renewable energy.
  • Promoting and developing sustainable energy.
  • Implementing the national policy objectives for renewable energy.
  • Promoting, stimulating and implementing the feed-in tariff system and sustainable energy laws.
  • Promoting private sector investment in the sustainable energy sector, among others. 

The Act also establishes a Sustainable Energy Development Fund for the expenses of the Authority, among others.
