Guidelines for the Protection of Personal Data in Information and Communications System in the Private Sector, Department of Trade and Industry Department Administrative Order No. 08, Series of 2006 (Philippines)

The Guidelines define the general principles for the following: 

• Protection of personal data
• Disclosure of personal data to a data processor
• Storage of data
• The criteria for lawful processing of personal data

They also enumerate the right of the data subject including its right to request for the information enumerated in the Guidelines. They provide the responsibilities arising from the voluntary accreditation, the accreditation criteria, the procedure for application and renewal of accreditation of a Data Protection Certifier. 

The Act also requires the Department of Trade and Industry Accreditation Office to establish a Privacy Complaints Office which shall assist complainants to file their privacy complaints before the proper venue.
