Consumer Protection Act of Bhutan, 2012

Consumers have the right to protect their safety in the consumption of goods and services, the right to access to information on goods and services offered such as price, characteristics, quality and risks of goods and services, and shall also have the right to a redress mechanism against unfair trade practices and unscrupulous exploitation of consumers, among others. 

The Act defined and prohibited misleading and false misrepresentation in the offer of goods and services, and established the Consumer Board which shall prescribe regulations on safety standards. The Act expressly provides consumers a right to redress against supplier of goods, manufacturer of goods and service providers who fail to comply with the guarantees and other provisions laid down in the Act, and other relevant implementing regulations.
