Alternative Dispute Resolution Act, 2017 (Pakistan)

The Act provides the rules and procedure regarding the reference of civil matters to Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), appointment of neutrals and referral to the ADR Centre, among others. The parties who initiated a proceeding in court may also make an application to the Court or an ADR Centre for the resolution of their dispute through ADR. It also provides the rules on the ADR proceedings, manner of settlement and awards, failure of ADR or an ADR Centre and the execution of an order or a decree passed by a Court following ADR. 

Further, the Act allows the Court to appoint a neutral or other person as agreed upon by the parties to facilitate the compounding of offenses, when the offenses are considered as compoundable prescribed under applicable laws.
