Environmental Law Lecturer, Director
A.Sarveswaran, is a Senior Lecturer at Department of Private and Comparative Law, Faculty of Law, University of Colombo. In addition, he functions as the Director of the Legal Research Unit, Faculty of Law, University of Colombo. He teaches Environmental Law at undergraduate level for Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Program and at postgraduate level for Masters in Laws (LLM) Program at the Faculty. The LLM Program has been introduced in the Faculty for 2015/2016 Academic Year for the first time. He is a Visiting Lecturer in Environmental Law at University of Jaffna and Open University of Sri Lanka. He teaches Environmental Law as part of the Masters in Science (MSc) Program at University of Colombo and Masters in Environmental Management Program (MEM) and Masters in Regional Development Program (MRDP) at Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo. He also teaches Course Modules in Sustainable Development and Peace, and Environmental Conflicts and Peace for Postgraduate Diploma in Conflict and Peace Studies Program at Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo. He has participated in the Train – the – Trainers Program conducted by the ADB-IUCN in teaching Environmental Law. He participates as a Resource Person in Workshops organized by the IUCN - Sri Lanka, Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka and other Organizations. He was a Senior Consultant to the Law Review Project of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka. He is an External Collaborator of the International Labour Organization (ILO). He has received the Environmental Law Champion of Asia Award from the Asian Development Bank. He is an Asia Leadership Fellow (ALFP) of the International House of Japan.
