Niroshika Sajeewani

Niroshika Sajeewani have completed her LL.M in International Law from the South Asian University being the first Sri Lankan student to win the Gold Medal for the Excellent Academic Performance in the Faculty of Legal Studies of the South Asian University. Currently, as an academic, I teach Public International Law, Commercial Law and Constitutional Law at the Open University of Sri Lanka. The interface between environment and investment, sustainable development, investment treaty arbitration, and commercial arbitration are some of my areas of research. She have successfully presented a research paper on “Environmental Protection and Investment Promotion: Balanced or Biased?” at the 8th PEPA SIEL Conference held at King’s College London in 2018. My full paper titled “Climate Change-The Best Way Forward- Regulatory or SocialApproach? Passing the Baton form State to Society”, could obtain the Second Price of the UPES SURANA & SURANA, 2nd ENVIRONS International Essay Competition in 2016. “Right to Clean Environment and Right to Development: Special Reference with Nepal and Sri Lanka”, “The Role of Judiciary in Fundamental Rights based Sustainable Development- A Step forward for Sri Lanka” are few of my research papers presented at national and international forums. I also serve as a visiting lecturer for the Master in Human Rights and Democratization Program offered by the Colombo University.

She have further served as Research Associate for several international journals such as Civil Society and Governance Challenges in South Asia, Private International Law South Asian Practice published by Springer.
