Nawneet Vibhaw

Nawneet Vibhaw received his B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) degree from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. He was awarded the Environmental Ambassador Scholarship to pursue his LL.M. in Environment and Natural Resources Law from Lewis & Clark Law School, Portland, Oregon, USA. During the LL.M. he specialized in Energy and Climate Change laws.

Before joining academia Nawneet worked with law firms like AZB & Partners and Trilegal in Mumbai, he has worked with lawyers, NGOs, World Bank and the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, on various projects in the past. Nawneet is a member of the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law and is a part of their sub-groups on Energy and Water. He has been invited to deliver lectures at law schools in US and Canada and has presented papers at conferences in India and abroad. He is a regular speaker at the IUCN AEL Colloquiums including the ones in Baltimore, USA (2012) and in Tarragona, Spain (2014).

He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of Antwerp, Belgium as a part of the Human Rights Integration (HRI) Project funded by the Belgian Science and Policy Office (BELSPO). The topic of his PhD is “Right to Water and Sanitation for the urban poor in NCR Delhi”. In the past, Nawneet taught Environmental Law and Energy Law to the LL.B. and LL.M. students at NLU Delhi.

He also headed the NLUD Environmental Research and Advocacy Centre and coordinated the activities of the NLUD Environmental Law Society. Nawneet has authored a book on Energy Law and Policy in India published by LexisNexis. He was awarded a scholarship to attend the Global Sustainability Summer School for Sustainability Professionals in Potsdam, Germany in July, 2013. His areas of interest include Environmental Law and Energy Law.
