Melanie Pimentel

Melanie Pimentel is a Senior State Solicitor at the Philippines Office of the Solicitor General. She specializes in Indigneous Peoples Rights Act, Fisheries Laws and Regulations, Land Titles and Deeds, and Public Interest Law and advocacy. She worked on cases against fisheries laws/policy, cases on revocation of income tax holiday incentive, cases for violation of COA rules and laws, tax cases, and cases defending the rights of indigenous peoples. She has been involved in work related to the Bangsamoro Basic Law, Rules on Adjudication for violation of the Fisheries Code, National Integrated Protected Areas, Wildlife and Conservation Act, and Administrative Rules on the implementation of the IPRA. She has worked alongside partner communties of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit Aeta and Mangyan Mission, the Apo Governance and Indigenous Leadership Academy, Ateneo’s Sacred Springs’ Dialogue Institute of Spirituality and Sustainability.
