Kumarjeeb Pegu

Kumarjeeb Pegu completed his B.A.(Hons.) in Political Science from S.G.T.B. Khalsa College, University of Delhi before pursuing LL.B From Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi and LL.M from Nalsar University of Law, Hyderabad. His core areas of interest lie in Environmental Law, International Commercial Law, International Public and Private Law along with International Trade Law. During his time at University of Delhi, he was awarded the S.Mohinder Singh Memorial Scholarship Award (S.G.T.B Khalsa College) for being the best all-rounder in Political Science during the pursuance of his undergraduate Degree. As a student of Law, he has served as the Public Relations Secretary, Counseling and Welfare Cell for Northeastern States at Campus Law Centre, Delhi University, in addition to being an active member of the Legal Aid Society of the Institution. Under his LL.M dissertation thesis titled ‘Administrative Challenges in Enforcement of Environmental Legislation: With Special Reference to State Pollution Control Board’s Working’ Kumarjeeb analyzed the functioning of the Pollution Boards across India to examine the lacunas in the process of proper implementation of law and policy through such Boards in the higher interest of the need for preservation of the quality of the natural environment.

As a student, Kumarjeeb was an active participant in environmental drives organized by the organized civil society groups such as the ‘Narmada Bachao Andolan’. His current areas of research involves International and Domestic legal Instruments under Environmental Law and International Commercial Law.

Kumarjeeb is currently working on a paper titled “Displacement induced by Environmental Disasters: With Special Reference to the India and its regional neighbors” along with Mitul Dutta, Assistant Professor, KIIT School of Law.
