Khin Thandar

Khin Thandar is a Legal Consultant from Myanmar with three decades of working experience. She is currently working for ADB TA-9026 Strengthening Law, Regulations and the Legal Profession for a better Investment Climate where part of her work involves teaching environmental law to lawyers. She is also the Legal Advisor to Wildlife Conservation Society, (Myanmar Programme). Khin was actively involved in the drafting and in the dissemination of Myanmar’s Conservation of Biodiversity and Protected Areas Law(2018). She is also actively involved in Myanmar’s Biodiversity Rules drafting process and drafting of Myanmar’s Forest Rules. Khin has her LL.B from Yangon University and her LL.M in International Maritime Law from IMO-International Maritime Law Institute in Malta.

Prior to her current engagements she has involved in research work for ADB R-CDTA 7735: Building Capacity for Environmental Prosecution, Adjudication, Dispute Resolution, Compliance, and Enforcement in Asia , ADB R-CDTA 8497: Support to Combat Transnational Organized Environmental Crime and Promote Environmental Law Reform and Enforcement and ADB TA-9276 REG: Developing Judicial Capacity for Adjudicating Climate Change and Sustainable Development Issues.

She has also previously worked as Legal Advisor for DFDL a leading international law firm in the Mekhong Region and prior to that as a diplomat in the Myanmar Foreign Service, where her last position held was Head of the International Law and Treaties Division .
