Chetana Rukshani

Lecturer

Chetana Rukshani Karunatilaka is a lecturer attached to the Department of Law, Faculty of Arts at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. She obtained LLB (Hons) Degree from Faculty of Law, University of Colombo in 2011 and LLM in Global Business Law from the La Trobe University, Australia in 2015. Her Master of Laws research was based on the International trade and environmental law, namely, “International Trade Related Environmental Disputes: Is the World Trade Organization Appropriately Dealing with Matters of Such Nature?”.

Her research interests include Environmental Law, International Trade Law and Commercial Arbitration. She has presented several papers in International Conferences and she was the scholar to represent Sri Lanka at the 26th Annual Conference of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association held in 2016. She recently won the Best Paper award at the Amity International Conference on Legal Dimensions of Environment 2017 which was held in New Delhi, India.

Currently Ms. Karunatilaka teaches Law of Contract, Company Law, Environmental Law, Business Law and International Trade Law. Further she supervises and examines undergraduate level thesis at the Department of Law. She is also a member of the Visiting Lecturers Panel at the Open University of Sri Lanka, who conducts lectures in Law of Contract and Environmental Law.
