Amirthalingam Subbaiah

Associate Professor

Amirthalingam Subbaiah completed B. Sc., Zoology from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, M. L., (International Law and Constitutional Law), PGDIPR (Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights) both from University of Madras, Chennai and Ph. D. (Law) joined the academic in 2004 at the School of Excellence in Law, the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, Chennai and Associate Professor of Law since 2016. Co-ordinator of the British Academy Award-UK-South Asian Partnership (UKSAP) in US-India (123) Civil Nuclear Co-operation Agreement, as a part of the project visited Reading University, London, UK (September 2009 and September 2010), University Kebangsaan Malaysia, Malaysia (March 2009), visited United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Bangkok, Thailand (2011). Consultant in Saph Pani, a Project on Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) and enhancement of natural water systems and treatment methods for safe and sustainable water supply in India with Centre for Environmental Management and Decision Support (CEMDS), University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria. This project is supported by the European Commission within the Seventh Framework Programme.

Amirthalingam participated and presented research papers at National and International Seminars, Conferences including Two Regional Teacher Training Programmes on ‘International Humanitarian Law’. He has attended CASCADE Programme organised by British Council, Chennai and also published articles in National and International Journals. Acted as the Resource person for the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB), Chennai and National Institute for Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chennai and Judged the various National and International Moot Court Competitions. Areas of specialisation include International Law, Constitutional Law, Environmental Law, International Trade Law, Intellectual Property Rights, Energy (Nuclear) Law, Human Rights, Private International Law and Alternate Dispute Resolution.
