ADB Convenes First-Ever Asia-Pacific Conference on Gender-Responsive Judicial Systems

Bruce Gosper, ADB Vice-President, Administration and Corporate Management, delivered opening remarks at the hybrid conference in Fiji, highlighting the role of the formal justice system in addressing the global pandemic of violence against women and girls. He called for dynamic justice systems that are open to innovative practical measures that are gender-sensitive and which encourage women to use the formal justice system.

Samantha Hung, ADB Director, ADB Gender Equality Division, presented an overview of ADB’s work on addressing gender-based violence.  More than 650 registered participants from 50 countries including judges, prosecutors, lawyers, government officials, civil society organizations, academia and development partners attended the conference.
