Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act, Republic Act No. 9147 (Philippines)
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) shall have jurisdiction over all terrestrial plants and animal species, while the Department of Agriculture shall have jurisdiction over all declared aquatic critical habitats and all aquatic resources.
The Act provides for the general provisions regarding collection and possession of wildlife, collection and/or possession of by-products and derivatives, local transport of wildlife, as well as exportation and/or importation of wildlife, among others. It shall also be determined by the Secretary of the DENR whether there are any wildlife species or subspecies which are threatened and shall classify the same as endangered, or some other appropriate classification. The Secretary of the DENR shall also designate critical habitats which shall be protected from exploitation or destruction. It shall generally be unlawful for any person to kill and destroy wildlife species, provided that the exceptions enumerated under the Act are not present.
