West Tower Condominium Corporation, et. al. vs. First Philippine Industrial Corporation, et. al., G.R. No. 194239, 16 June 2015
An oil leakage occurred in the West Tower condominium from the oil pipeline system owned by First Philippine Industrial Corporation (FPIC) which traversed the condominium. This oil leakage eventually caused petroleum to spill to other parts of Makati City, where the condominium was located. The petition was joined by other organizations and civil society groups. The Supreme Court stated that the Rules of Procedure for Environmental Cases do not require that a petitioner be directly affected by an environmental disaster. The rules allow juridical persons to file the petition on behalf of persons whose constitutional right to a balanced and healthful ecology is violated or threatened with violation.
