Waste Management Act (Tonga)
The Act established the Waste Authority Limited (WAL) as the waste management authority, and provided for its mandates, functions and powers. It further provides for the obligations of the WAL on the planning, reporting and operations on waste management. It also enumerates waste-related offenses which include, among others, importation of toxic or hazardous wastes and deposit or dumping of wastes at a place other than an approved waste dump site.
