Vanuatu National Energy Road Map 2013-2020, 2013

The National Energy Road Map (NERM) is the policy framework for the development of the Vanuatu energy sector. Its overarching vision is to energize Vanuatu's growth and development through the provision of secure, affordable, widely accessible, high quality, clean energy services for an educated, healthy and wealthy nation. The NERM identifies five priorities for the energy sector, namely, access, petroleum supply, affordability, energy security and climate change. Corresponding objectives, targets and actions are provided to achieve the named priorities, in order to contribute to the NERM's vision. Access pertains to access to secure, reliable and affordable electricity for all citizens by 2030. The NERM also prioritizes reliable, secure and affordable petroleum supply throughout Vanuatu. Likewise, it sets a more affordable and low-cost of energy services in Vanuatu as another priority. It further aims for an energy secure Vanuatu at all time. Finally, the priority as to climate change is to mitigate emissions through renewable energy and energy efficiency.
