Updated Vanuatu National Energy Road Map 2016-2030 (2016)

The National Energy Road Map (NERM) is the policy framework for the development of the Vanuatu energy sector. Its overarching vision is to energize Vanuatu's growth and development through the provision of secure, affordable, widely accessible, high quality, clean energy services for an educated, healthy and wealthy nation. The NERM identifies five priorities for the energy sector, namely access, petroleum supply, affordability, energy security and climate change. Corresponding objectives, targets and actions are provided to achieve the named priorities, in order to contribute to the NERM's vision. This document updates the 2013 NERM to take recent developments into consideration. It maintains the same vision as the 2013 NERM, and the objectives, targets and actions are aligned. The priorities are slightly revised as accessible energy, affordable energy, secure and reliable energy, sustainable energy and green growth. The updated version, however, provides more details on particular areas (e.g., energy efficiency and green growth), with the priorities and objectives made more consistent.
