United Nations Paris Agreement (Implementation) Act 2016 (Papua New Guinea)

The United Nations Paris Agreement (Implementation) Act of Papua New Guinea (PNG) addresses climate change issues and gives effect and implements PNG's obligations as a party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and particularly, the Paris Agreement. The Act specifically provides that the Paris Agreement shall have the force of law in PNG, specifically the provisions referring to or intended for Developing Country Parties. The Act further provides that the Paris Agreement shall be implemented in accordance with the Act and the Climate Change (Management) Act 2015 and any other applicable laws. It identifies the Climate Change Development Authority as the implementing authority for the Act. The Paris Agreement is appended as a schedule of the Act.
