Tonga Climate Change Fund Act 2021

The Climate Change Fund was established as a charitable purpose trust for the purpose of collecting resources to direct these towards approved climate change activities, programs and projects which promote national climate change priorities, facilitate disaster risk reduction, build national resilience and manage funds from different sources to advance the Kingdom of Tonga's national climate change priorities, among others.

The Act provided the rules on the governance of the fund via the Tonga Climate Change Fund Management Committee, and also established other positions and regulatory bodies such as the Secretariat of the Fund and the working committees. It also provided the rules specific to the funds such as the sources, bank account, investment policy, payments and disbursements, and unspent funds which must be returned to the Fund. It further laid down the rules and procedure for the application for project funding from the Fund.
