Thailand's Updated Nationally Determined Contribution, 2020

The Updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) of Thailand maintains its target to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 20% from the projected business as usual level by 2030. However, the level of contribution could increase up to 25%, subject to adequate and enhanced access to technology development and transfer, financial resources and capacity building support. Moreover, Thailand is formulating its Long-term Low Greenhouse Gas Emission Development Strategy to guide Thailand towards a climate-resilient and low GHG emissions development and serve as a basis for enhancing its subsequent NDCs. The coverage is still economy-wide but excluding land use, land-use change and forestry. For the adaptation component, Thailand developed the National Adaptation Plan with the aim of building adaptive capacity and enhancing climate resilience in six priority sectors including water resources management, agriculture and food security, tourism, public health, natural resources management, and human settlements and security.
