Telecommunications Order, 2001 (Brunei Darussalam)
The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (Authority) has the exclusive privilege over the operation and provision of telecommunication systems and services in Brunei Darussalam. A license may be granted by the Authority to any person, class of persons or a particular person for the running of such telecommunications and services, and which may be imposed with conditions.
The Order also lays down the specific rules and regulations on the following:
- Exclusive privilege and licensing of telecommunications system
- The erection
- Maintenance and repair of telecommunications installations
- The codes of practice and standards of performance
- Telecommunication cable detection works
It also prescribes the penalties for offenses including unlawful operation of telecommunication system or service, among others.
