Te Kaveinga Nui: National Sustainable Development Plan 2016–2020 (Cook Islands)

The National Sustainable Development Plan (NSDP) of Cook Islands declares that the country's 2020 National Vision is "To enjoy the highest quality of life consistent with the aspirations of [its] people, and in harmony with [its] culture and environment." The current NSDP is the third iteration and builds upon the previous plans, with each goal linked to the eight goals of the NSDP 20110-2015, while also intending to mark an evolution in how the future in planned. It identifies 16 sector-based development goals. It also presents a scorecard for development as to each of these goals, with the goal of catalyzing more in-depth research and consultation. The goals are also aligned with the country's regional and international commitments. The NSDP notes that the 16 goals are interwoven and interdependent, so that the success in one is dependent on the achievement of the others. The NSDP likewise articulates key performance indicators underpinning the 16 development goals, and sets out a "traffic light" system for monitoring progress, including levels of urgency or concern.
