Te Atamoa o te Uira Natura: The Cook Islands Renewable Energy Chart, 2016

The Te Atamoa o te Uira Natura The Cook Islands Renewable Energy Chart) is the Cook Islands' roadmap to achieving its target of utilizing 100% renewable power sources by 2020. In addition, it addresses the goal enunciated in the National Sustainable Development Plan 2016-2020 (NSDP) of ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, modern energy and transport. It relates to the first three target areas of the NSDP goal, and identifies associated performance metrics, namely:

  1. Increasing use of renewable sources, measured by the percentage of electrical generation from renewable energy.
  2. Reducing reliance on fossil fuels, measured by the annual amount of fossil fuels imported.
  3. Affordable electricity, measured by the percentage of median income spent on electricity.
