The Strategic Planning Framework for Fisheries: Update for 2015-2024 (Cambodia)

The Strategic Planning Framework for Fisheries (SPF) is guided by the vision for the sector defined in earlier policy documents including the SPF 2010-2019: management, conservation, and development of sustainable fisheries resources to contribute to ensuring people’s food security and to socioeconomic development in order to enhance people’s livelihoods and the nation’s prosperity. This SPF broadly follows the SPF 2010-2019 but reflects the changing policy, social, economic and environmental conditions in which the sector must operate. In terms of the wider policy framework, the Fisheries sector policy and strategic approach reflects the global Sustainable Development Goals and a number of international agreements impacting fisheries, to which Cambodia is a party.

The SPF identifies four development pillars, namely:

  1. Capture fisheries and management
  2. Aquaculture and
  3. Fisheries value chain
  4. Regulatory Services

Each of the development pillars of the SPF includes indicators and targets which reflect the wider strategic aims of the sector.
