Safia Bibi v. State, PLD 1985 FSC 120 (Pakistan)

A complaint was filed on behalf of an acutely myopic domestic helper who reported that she was raped by her employer and his son. She became pregnant as a result of the rape but the child dies in the hospital a few days later. The victim was unable to prove the rape under the stringent evidentiary requirement of the Hudood ordinance.

However, being unmarried and having admitted to a pregnancy, Safia was tried and found guilty of fornication, also under the Hudood Laws. She was acquitted upon appeal.
