Rules and Regulations Governing the Conduct of Marine Wildlife Tourism in the Philippines; Department of Tourism, Department of Agriculture, DILG and DENR Joint Memorandum Circular No. 01 (Philippines)

All those who wish to engage in marine wildlife tourism interactions are required to follow national and international trade safety standards. The following zones are established for marine wildlife interaction areas: 

  1. No approach and no interaction zones which are strictly off limits to sea vessels, aircraft and persons at all times.
  2. Interaction zone where recreational, educational or entertainment activities can be conducted.
  3. Waiting zones which pertain to areas immediately adjacent to the interaction zone. 

The Circular enumerated the general code of conduct to be observed within the identified zones by individuals and sea vessels. Acts which disturb, harass and maltreat marine wildlife and degrade their habitats are prohibited.
