Roadmap for Democracy and Sustainable Socio-Economic Development 2010−2014: A Better Fiji for All (2009)

The Roadmap for Democracy and Sustainable Socio-economic Development (RDSSED) 2010-2014 outlines the strategy for attaining sustainable democracy, good and just governance, socio-economic development, and national unity. The RDSSED is grounded on the objective to identify and implement policies to propel the country in achieving the collective vision of "A Better Fiji for All." The Roadmap identifies the components of a better Fiji: well governed, democratic, progressive, prosperous, peaceful, non-racial and united. As the government steers the country towards this vision, it will adhere to certain guiding principles, namely, equality and dignity of all citizens, respect for the diverse cultural, religious and philosophical beliefs, unity among people driven by a common purpose and citizenship, and good and just governance; sustainable economic growth; social and economic justice; equitable access to the benefits of development, including access to basic needs and services; merit-based equality of opportunity for all; and compliance with international commitments.
