The Right to Housing Act, 2075 (2018) (Nepal)

The Government of Nepal, Provincial Government or Local Level is mandated to gradually provide homeless persons and their families with housing facilities based on resources by prioritizing:

  1. Those who have no house and land ownership within the state of Nepal, nor do their families, and are unable to make arrangement for housing from their own or their family's income generation, resource, or effort.
  2. Those who have been displaced permanently due to natural disaster and the condition in clause (a) has been satisfied.

The Act further provides for other obligations of the Government of Nepal, the Provincial Government, and Local Level on the provision of temporary housing and resettlement for applicable cases. It also provides for the rules on ownership, use and right of possession on the housing provided, and a list of persons and families who are disqualified from the benefits of the Act.
