Revised Tariff Policy Amendment, 2016 (India)

The Revised Tariff Policy of 2016 amends the Tariff Policy of 2006. The amendments include provisions on access to affordable electricity, allow power generation plants to increase their capacity to 100%, and for power to be provided to remote unconnected villages through micro grids. The policy also promotes renewable energy, providing for Renewable Purchase Obligations of 8% of total electricity consumption by 2022. It also imposes a Renewable Generation Obligation, and compulsory procurement of power produced from Waste-to-Energy plants.
