Report of the Third Committee, A/5606

The Report of the Third Committee indicates that several countries including Afghanistan, Algeria, Argentina, Austria, Cameroon, Chile, Columbia, Czechoslovakia, Gabon, Guinea, Indonesia, Iran, Mali, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco, Pakistan, Panama, the Philippines, Poland, Togo and Venezuela introduced a draft declaration on the elimination of discrimination of against women for consideration by the General Assembly. In support of the draft resolution, it was pointed out that despite the efforts which have been made by the United Nations, especially on the Commission on the Status of Women, such discrimination against women still exists.
