Renewable Energy Policy of Bangladesh

The Renewable Energy Policy of Bangladesh aims, among others, to:

  • Harness the potential of renewable energy resources and disseminate its technologies.
  • Encourage and facilitate investment in renewable energy projects.
  • Develop sustainable energy supplies.
  • Scale up contributions of renewable energy to electricity.

It provides for investment and fiscal incentives for renewable energy projects. Moreover, renewable energy projects are required to secure a regulatory license only if the capacity of the project is 5 MW or more. It also outlines the relevant institutional arrangements for its implementation, and resource and technology development for renewable energy.
