Punjab Gender Parity Report 2018 (Pakistan)

The Punjab Gender Parity Report presents data on women focusing on six thematic areas, namely:

1. Demographics
2. Governance
3. Health
4. Education, economic participation and opportunities
5. Justice
6. Special initiatives

The report also presents the status of the special gender-related initiatives introduced by the government. It aims that the data collected will be used for policy development, and promote gender-sensitive and citizen-responsive budgeting in all sectors. It highlights some positive trends in Punjab, including rates higher than the national average in female literacy, female labor force participation rate, as well as increased female voter registration. There is also consistent implementation of the policy targeting a minimum number of women employed in the public sector. However, it also notes that despite significant steps to prevent violence against women, there was an increase in reported cases of violence against women. Furthermore, it examines the vulnerabilities faced by women due to gender inequality, discrimination, lack of adequate education and economic opportunities.
