Punjab Gender Parity Report 2016 (Pakistan)

The Punjab Gender Disparity Report showed that there remains great disparity in the status of men and women in society reflected through lower representation of women in decision-making positions, labor participation and opportunities, as well as legal and judicial protection. It also stated that women make up almost half of the national population.

As to health, it showed that the life expectancy of women has improved, but has not yet reached the female life expectancy target of the United Nations, among others.

As to education, it highlighted that the literacy rate in Pakistan has steadily increased, but still needs improvement in terms of increasing enrollment rates and decreasing drop outs of girls.

The Report also includes recommendations to address the findings related to each thematic area.
