Public Procurement Act 2019 (Kiribati)

The Act lays down the public procurement principles to be observed by procurement officers and other public officers executing public procurement which are value for money, anti-corruption, integrity, conflict of interest, transparency, confidentiality and fair competition. It requires that public procurement shall only be initiated when there are public funds which are specifically and completely allocated and approved for such procurement. 

The Act also laid down the responsibilities of the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, the Office of Attorney General, Kiribati Audit Office, and Central Procurement Unit, among others, with respect to public procurement. It provided for the procurement methods and provided the process for open competitive and limited competitive procedures. It further laid down the procedure and requirements for the execution of procurement contracts.
