Prohibition of Child Marriage, Republic Act No. 11596 (Philippines)

The Act prohibits child marriage which is defined as any marriage entered into when one or both parties are children, and is solemnized in any civil or church proceedings, or in any recognized traditional, cultural or customary manner. Child marriage also extends to an informal union or cohabitation outside of wedlock between an adult and a child, or between children. 

The Act penalizes those who facilitates or solemnize child marriages, and adults who cohabits with a child outside wedlock. Child marriages shall have no legal effect in the Philippines.
