Prakas No. 701 on Establishment of General Requirement of Electrical Power Technical Standards, 2007 (Cambodia)

Prakas No. 701 establishes the specific requirement of electrical power technical standards for the Cambodia, in two main parts, namely, specific requirements of electrical power technical standards for thermal generating facilities, and specific requirements of electrical power technical standards for transmission and distribution facilities. Nevertheless, it allows electric suppliers to use their existing electric system for two years or any extension as decided by Electricity Authority of Cambodia from the date of signing of the Prakas, during which time they are to improve their facilities to be in accordance with the electric power technical standard. When the system is improved or changed or newly installed, this standard shall be followed. Among the requirements provided in the Prakas is for compliance with environmental standards, to prevent environmental pollution, the electric power facilities shall be constructed in accordance with the environmental laws and regulations of Cambodia. It also prohibits the installation of electrical machines or equipment containing polychlorinated biphenyls.
