Occupational Health and Safety Act 2015 (Kiribati)

The Act allows for the appointment of inspectors which are given the duty of facilitating the implementation of the Act, investigating any suspected offenses under the Act and initiating legal action for breaches of the Act, if appropriate.

The Act enumerates and defines the obligations of the employer, employees, designers, manufacturers and suppliers of plant or substance for use at a workplace, and site visitors to ensure a safe working environment without risks to health. It also provides the rules on the appointment of health and safety representatives in the workplace, procedure for accidents which occur in the workplace, and health and safety standards through the code of practice.
