National Target Program to Respond to Climate Change in 2012–2015, PM Decision No. 1183/QD-TTg, 2012 (Viet Nam)
The general objective of the program is to gradually realize the National Strategy on climate change, increase awareness and capacity to adapt to climate change, and move towards reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, building a low-carbon economy and actively working with the international community to protect the earth's climate system.
Specific goals to achieve the general objective are likewise identified, including:
- Completing the assessment of the level of impacts of climate change on different fields, sectors and localities
- Creating a system of data modeling on climate change
- Update and deploy the Action Plan for adaptation to climate change in the ministries, branches and localities
- Build capacity to drive organizational, institutional policy on adaptation to climate change and mitigating emissions in the priority areas
- Strengthening international cooperation on climate change
- Raising awareness of the community about climate change
The document also provides the main contents and tasks of the program, which shall be implemented from 2012 to the end of 2015. It also identifies the component projects under the program, as well as the funding for the program. It outlines the management and implementation of the program, as well as the responsibilities of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment as the program management agency.
